Commentary: For the most part our journey across the oceans left me puzzled for indeed we had not run into any hazards of note - unless sea sickness could be considered such.
This, however, was quickly ameliorated by the sudden appearance of a monster in the form of the legendary kraken ! At long last ! My blood begun boiling - this is what adventure is - or so I thought before being persuaded by the foul creature's attacks that it is not particularly keen on letting us go without a fight.
After a flurry of steel and magics... mostly magics of one gentleman's in particular we were able to put that unsightly beast down though not without certain orc earning the grim honor of inspecting the insides of its stomach beforehand.
That detestable, abominable squid ! During the sortie we all but failed to notice the degree of damage it has imparted on our fine vessel, much to the chagrin of its captain later.
Fortunately enough a port in the making was situated close and with some arcane assistance we were able to reach our destination mostly in one piece.
In the end our jolly team of intrepid explorers found themselves at the beach of the yet to be named land, ready to be claimed in the name of the mainland's excellence of course.

Game: salaren.boards.net/thread/21/heroes-born-people-murdered-vagabonds**Earnings:** +7.465 experience +7.020gp -1k gp spent for the Handy Haversack **Commentary** It clearly had not been meant to be an uneventful morning for us, the residents of Ravelgried, the frontier town in its infancy. After a short if somewhat enjoyable walk and chat with a gnome alchemist whose name I have yet to catch we accepted aid request originating from the sawmill where apparently some giant bear-like creature wrecked havoc, killing and wounding many. Bah if that was all of it ! It supposedly had the audacity of making it back to the forest with one of the downed workers, who was presumed to be still alive at the time of capture. The bear, being a beast wasn't particularly keen on covering its tracks making tracking its bloodied self child's play. To our momentary astonishment the bear was left there, skinned and somewhat filleted with the captive nowhere to be found. The culprits left their tracks and not knowing any better we followed them in turn. After a while we noticed the creatures responsible for the worker's abduction, them being covered in fur, complete with whiskers and of not particularly vicious disposition it would seem. Before we could approach them a band of (what would turn out later to be pirates) unsightly gentlemen ambushed the creatures, being clearly after their blood. While I do not particularly find the idea of fraternizing with the barbarians to be the most amusing our settlement wouldn't be likewise keen on starting war with the locals over something as simple as mere misunderstanding, especially given the vulnerable state of Ravelgried. The encounter itself was chaotic, with the exchange of blade, magics and alchemical munutions echoing through the forest. In the end the casualties included one unconscious fur-creature, while the pirates had to be cut to the last man. Their stubborn defiance cost their lives for they preferred such fate over surrendering and facing the wrath of their infamous captain later. In the meantime it turned out that one of my companions was a pirate all along ! A pirate prince no less ! What a thrilling twist of events ! HA ! Being worn out by such a tricky sortie, after facing enemies outnumbering us two to one we decided not to test our lucky anymore, returning back soon after. Our reception was... ah, magnificent ! So this is what it means to be lauded as a champion ? I shall cherish this feeling. Money well spent for once ! They will not believe me back home will they ? |

Game: salaren.boards.net/thread/27/expedition-icros-mountains**Earnings:** 21066xp 10k gp **Commentary** This time our group was hired to investigate the issue brought up by the dwarven miners of Ravelgried who had just returned from the Icros mountains. Apparently the stocky chaps were unable to proceed further with their prospector enterprise being in peril because of some unexplainable, thus most likely supernatural impedance barring them from further entry. If there's anything I had learned about dwarves then that would be their tenacity, or 'stubbornness' if you will. Thus, as much damage their honor might be sustained, they opted to hire the likes of us - adventurers (ah, I adore the ring of its). With time being of essence the assembled party (that in the form of the goblin alchemist from before, the self-proclaimed pirate prince as well as the one-man army that Grom was and of course my very self), decided to ask one the resident arcanists to project us proper by the means of teleportation (I must admit that the experience was as thrilling and frighting as it can gets). There we witnessed the wonders of nature in the form of the abovementioned mountains, and with the prospect of having some of the peeks named after us we followed the marks left by the dwarves only to be ambushed by a pack of Rhemorazs ! Regretfully so the alchemist hath fallen, with the belly of the monster serving as his final resting place. Much distraught, we resolved ourselves to press on if only to honor the memory of our late companion (what was his name again ?). Soon after the mystery behind the barrier was unveiled. Contrary to my expectations the source was in the form of the menace that was... a golden dragon (tis hard to believe but they can actually grow larger *THAN THAT* !). Unfortunately for the dwarven folk the creature declared the ore-rich region of Icros to be his domain. Much to our chagrin the winged beast felt compelled to stay here because not of some momentary whim but because of a vow it had undertaken, vow he made to a mortal lass he had some affection for. Knowing to do better than to incite the arcane reptile's wrath we decided to return later with more men, hoping to find a different access point to the would-be mines in lieu of confronting the said beast. Over three weeks later we returned back to Ravelgried, our efforts being at the very least rewarded adequately. Death... is terrible to witness in person. |
